SAMPLE LETTER TO LEGISATORS TO

REPEAL THE FOOD SAFETY MODERNIZATION ACT (below)

Dear [Senator, Representative],

“The only way to save small farms is to repeal the Food Safety Modernization Act.”–Jonathan Emord, 3/19/11, Washington DC

So stated attorney Jonathan Emord – who has defeated the FDA seven times in federal court – during the annual grassroots lobby day of the National Independent Consumers and Farmers Association.

Small farms are the only working economic engine in the country.  The FSMA gives the FDA authority to shut down small farms without any evidence of danger to the public.  For more than ten years, the FDA has been raiding and shutting down small farms with no evidence of danger to the public, holding women and children at gunpoint during SWAT style assaults, taking their family’s food and production equipment, without the FSMA in place.  The FDA has effectively declared war on the small farms that provide the food their communities want and that are the economic heart of this country.

Food choice is as much a right as breathing. The FSMA will end food choice through FDA fiat.

The FDA policy of raiding small farms, with apparent Congressional support, has set in motion an inevitable civil conflict.  The FSMA has simply given the FDA more authority to carry out its apparent agenda.

Congress has the authority to control the FDA.

Repeal the FSMA.

End the National Emergency, in place since 1933, that has enabled the FDA and all other federal regulatory agencies, by repealing 7 USC §613.

Take back Congressional power and be the defenders of the people of this country, not the enablers of corporate controlled regulatory agencies.

The National Emergency

Please read about the National Emergency that has been in place since 1933.  This is the legal basis for the regulations that prohibit farmers from selling directly to consumers pretty much everything they produce and/or process on the farm, other than unwashed fruits and vegetables.
